Surrounded by a Circle of Champions, students typically experience higher academic performance through a greater sense of support and belonging. We have chronic and growing equity gaps for marginalized students across higher education. This is particularly true in STEM disciplines. The Circle of Champions is designed to address this very issue by increasing the amount of academic support these students have and feel on their College-to-Career journeys.
Through your assignment, students will be required to register at myCircleofChampions.com. There is no cost to students for this program. They will be required to develop and maintain their journey profile, develop their personal Circle and engage with their champions primarily around updates on their academic journeys.
Faculty are expected to make this assignment a requirement in their courses. Faculty should introduce the assignment in week 1 of the term, but may wait until week 2 if necessary. Faculty will receive ongoing updates and a final engagement report for each student that can be used to assign credit. The assignment should be worth at least 5% of the cumulative course grade.
