Getting Started with Circle of Champions
Faculty can learn about My Circle of Champions through the program website, social media, campus outreach, and direct communications from the Circle of Champions team. These communications often highlight student stories, classroom experiences, and examples of how faculty are using the program in their courses.
Some institutions may use a vetting or qualification process before selecting faculty participants. When applicable, this process is coordinated by the Circle of Champions Faculty Team.
Faculty can access orientation materials through the My Circle of Champions website, including setup guides, FAQs, and sample course language.
Yes. Faculty are typically invited to a pre-term workshop and/or a one-on-one setup meeting with Circle of Champions staff to ensure a smooth start.
Preparing Your Course
Faculty receive step-by-step setup instructions that include syllabus language, Canvas integration, and assignment configuration. The Circle of Champions team provides support throughout this process.
No. Faculty accounts are designed to carry over from term to term. While course rosters and term-specific data update automatically, most core settings remain in place.
Faculty integrate the Circle of Champions assignment into their syllabus and Canvas course as either a required assignment or extra credit, depending on instructional goals and departmental guidelines.
The assignment is typically introduced during the first or second week of the term, when students are establishing routines and building community.
Yes. Faculty are encouraged to briefly reference the assignment throughout the term and occasionally dedicate time to reinforcing its purpose and value.
Using My Circle of Champions Platform
Once your account is created, you can log in directly to the Circle of Champions platform using your credentials.
Faculty have access to:
• Students enrolled through their course
• Student engagement data
• Messages and activity summaries
An enhanced faculty dashboard is currently in development.
Yes. The platform separates current-term activity from historical data, allowing faculty to focus on their active course while maintaining continuity across semesters.
Faculty may respond directly to students if they choose, but they are not expected to provide advising or case management. Referring students to Circle of Champions staff is always appropriate.
Yes. Faculty contribution tools are being expanded to allow instructors to post messages to circles connected to their courses.
Student Engagement and Assignment
Yes. Faculty receive regular updates summarizing student participation and Champion engagement. These updates help faculty understand activity levels without needing to monitor the platform daily.
Yes. Faculty may be invited to mid-term meetings or check-ins to review implementation progress, discuss student engagement trends, and address any needed adjustments.
Faculty receive guidance on what to grade and how to evaluate student participation. The platform also provides engagement summaries that support efficient grading.
Yes. Additional tools such as personalized rubrics, engagement summaries, and quality indicators are currently being developed to streamline grading.
Faculty receive engagement insights and summary data highlighting participation patterns and student interaction trends. Additional impact reporting is also being developed.
Faculty Support
Faculty have access to several forms of support, including:
• The Circle of Champions implementation team
• Direct support from the Faculty Support lead (Bryan)
• Scheduled check-ins and office hours
Faculty inquiries are typically acknowledged or answered within 24 hours by the Faculty or Communications team.
Faculty can report technical issues or recommend improvements by contacting the Circle of Champions Faculty Team.
Faculty Participation Support
Many faculty receive a stipend for implementing Circle of Champions, depending on institutional agreements and available funding.
Faculty are required to complete:
• A stipend contract
• A W-9 tax form
These processes are being streamlined through system integrations.
Stipend payments are processed after required documentation is completed and program milestones are met. Timing may vary by institution.
Yes. Faculty who receive $600 or more in a calendar year will receive a 1099-NEC during tax season.
Yes. Faculty will be provided with a summary explaining the stipend, its purpose, and associated program deliverables.
