Once a month we at My Circle of Champions wanted to give advice to our champions, we realize that sometimes we also need help and learn how to be supportive.
Being a Champion doesn’t mean having all the answers. What matters most is showing up, listening, and helping your student remember they are not navigating college alone. Each month, we share practical guidance to help Champions support their students in ways that stay student-centered and realistic.
Many new college students don’t know how or where to access support services, and asking for help can feel uncomfortable or intimidating. As a Champion, simply helping your student identify where support exists or encouraging them to reach out can make a real difference. Small reminders that it’s okay to ask for help can reduce stress and prevent students from feeling like they have to manage everything on their own.
Support doesn’t mean doing everything for a student. It means helping them recognize when support is available and reminding them they don’t have to carry everything alone. That’s why we share these reminders each month to strengthen the Circle and support students as they navigate college.
